On most applications this amb temp sensor is installed in the front bumper assy. The main function of the Ambient Air Temperature Sensor is to send information about the outside air temp to your vehicle's computer. Injectors are adjusted by the computer based on the outside air temperature, amount of air coming in and other variables. Your car must have a working air temp sensor for optimal engine efficiency and performance.  A properly functioning amb air temp sensor will increase your gas millage and may be required to pass a smog/emissions test.
